12|20|08 Elektra performed live at the Dux De Lux, 18.12.2008I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for coming out to see our last two Christchurch shows! Both, Evan and I, had a wonderful time performing our new set for all of you. So, as a way of saying thank you, I thought it might be nice to share a live recording of a new song with you, called Elektra. The version available for download here was recorded live to two-track on Thursday at our Dux De Lux show. Hope you enjoy it! :)
12|13|08 Taking on the world: an interview with the pulseHi. I just did an interview with thepulse.co.nz about our upcoming US Tour and SXSW shows. I quite enjoyed doing this one! :) Here’s a brief excerpt: If you had to start over, what advice would you give yourself? I spent a lot of years in limbo. Years and years of being afraid to follow my dreams, weighed down by depression, treading water in academia, chasing yet another piece of paper that qualifies me to lead a life I don’t want to live. My advice, if I could start over: Don’t be scared of failing. Go and live fully and consciously. Don’t wait for happiness – you don’t need it. You can check out the entire interview here.
12|07|08 Insanity and the flip-side of DIY ethics“Anyhow, the trade-off of DIY is my sanity and happiness. Now, I have no issue sacrificing happiness, as I no longer really consider happiness to be an important objective in my life, but my sanity?” Here’s a brief selection of just a few things I need to sort in the next 2-3 weeks: (Read the rest of this story…)
12|04|08 Facebook anyone? :)Just a quick note to let you know about the facebook event page I created for the Christchurch Farewell Shows! I have to say, I was never a big fan of facebook to begin with, but I’m actually really starting to dig it after all these years. So yeah, if you know me (or, heaven forbid, want to know me), send me a friend request! Also, don’t forget to add The Enright House page on facebook! :) In the meantime, if you’re a facebook user and plan to come out to one of our two last Christchurch shows, then how about RSVP’ing on facebook and let us know you’re coming?
11|30|08 Rehearsals and the last two Christchurch shows
“(…) our current show will be far more songy and varied – you might even be tempted to swing a leg once in a while.” I’m really stoked about our final goodbye shows in Christchurch on the 18th of December at the Dux De Lux (9 pm), as well as an AA show on the 19th of December at the Physics Room (7 pm). Both shows will be with support from Halon Sirius and Valdera! (Read the rest of this story…)

10|26|08 My friend Simon
Simon, a really good friend of mine, will soon be joining me on my last New Zealand tour as Halon Sirius. Now Simon’s pretty much just getting started as a live act, and so there are lots of things he just hasn’t found the time to sort out yet – one of those things being press photos. Anyhow, I decided it might be fun to chauffeur Simon around town with my camera in tow, and see if the two of us couldn’t get a few good shots happening. Despite wind and rain, I think I managed to capture quite a few striking shots, and I was just glad I didn’t totally waste Simon’s time! :) Here are some of my favorite ones I took of him today: (Read the rest of this story…)
10|22|08 America and the long road ahead
“Democracy (…) is but a buzz word for politicians, hardly a shining beacon of reality. (It) has long since undergone a transformation in the western world from being a philosophical and moral ideal to becoming a moderately clumsy tool for controlling a population from the top down.” As many of you know, I am moving to the States next year to pursue my dreams of touring my music and trying to earn a living off of it. I am under no illusions as to how difficult a task that will prove to be, but I figure I only have one shot at life, one thing I care deeply about, so I have to muster the courage to go out there and try to tell as many human beings as I can about my music and convince them of its worth. I am excited about this, but I’ve also been having some serious doubts about wanting to build a life in America. (Read the rest of this story…)
10|19|08 Two Sweet Podcasts
I was pretty excited this week to stumble over two really sweet podcasts, featuring my music. The first of the two podcasts was created by a blog called My Pleasure, Miss!. The concept of the podcast is so bloody creative and bizarre, I’ll just quote their own description: (Read the rest of this story…)
10|07|08 The Overcomer by Shaun K AndersonWow! I totally didn’t notice that my buddy Shaun (we toured together earlier this year) had a video out to one of my favorite songs of his: Watch Shaun’s video on YouTube and check out his music on his myspace page. If you would like to make Shaun’s songs part of your life, then be sure to grab a copy of his EP at his label’s online store.
