A short clip I made of Thomas performing his i.Ryoko set at the Palmerston North Library.
I was hardly well prepared to start my journey when I woke up on Wednesday morning. I was to perform the very next day and had not even yet gotten around to practicing all songs, let alone pack. The ferry crossing from the South to North island would leave Picton around 6 PM, and I had roughly a 6 hour drive ahead of me, so I decided to get up as early as possible. That way, I would be able to pack up my gear and load up the car in time to depart around 10 AM.
Although I managed to get away on time without forgetting anything essential, I learned one very sobering lesson…
I’ll update properly tomorrow, but I just wanted to take a few seconds and let you know that Thomas and I are both well and happy. We just played our first three shows on our solo tour, and are having a wonderful experience, thus far. Wanganui and Wellington were just so special, it’s a bit hard to put in words, so until I make a proper attempt to do so tomorrow afternoon, I’ll just share with you a few photos of our set-up from this weekend’s shows.

A wee video diary about the impending tour and the gear I’m using:
08|14|08 My top-5 list on Cheese on Toast :)
I totally adore lists. They suit my temperament. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a tidy person. In fact, in many ways I am a total slob. Nevertheless, my mind has a tendency to prefer tidy concepts, symmetry, order, or really anything at all that would appeal to an obsessive-compulsive person like myself.

My friend Rob is pretty much my hero. He works really hard, writes and produces fantastic music, has run one of New Zealand’s longest running labels (Failsafe Records), is much more himself than I am myself, is in a wonderful relationship, runs his own recording studio, doesn’t drink, doesn’t take drugs, and is more passionate about great music than almost anyone I know. In short, Rob is one of my very best friends, and I’m really proud of that fact.

One of New Zealand’s raddest online zines has three copies of our Acoustic EP to giveaway – enter here.
Speaking of Undertheradar and sweet give-aways, if you haven’t already downloaded last year’s It’s A Sonic Summer compilation, then be sure to grab a copy before the myst of the wired swallows it whole. Aside from our song Scattering The Sun Like Gunshot, the compilation also includes fantastic tracks by Disasteradio, The L.E.D.s, Collapsing Cities, Cue The Sun, White On White, and Sora Shima.
