The Cat And Bird 7" is a very limited edition split between The Enright House and the late Break Mission Kills. The entire run of records is limited to 100 copies, and for sale here are the last remaining 25 copies.
So what is a lathe cut, you might ask? Well, lathe cut records look like vinyl records and play on standard record players, but instead of being made out of vinyl, they are made out of polycarbonate acetate. Also, whilst vinyl records are pressed in big industrial plants, these particular lathe records are cut in real-time in a small workshop in New Zealand.
Lathe cuts, whilst generally not as hi-fi as vinyl records, are thouroughly artisanal, individualized works of lo-fi art, which, due to their unique properties and limited numbers, have become super collectible around the world.
Lastly, your purchase of the Cat and Bird 7" includes not only an immediate download of both 7" tracks, but also two download-only bonus tracks - all in your choice of 320k mp3, FLAC, or just about any other format you could possibly desire.
