It’s my great pleasure to announce a new release of ours, which is a Split EP with Madison-based Pushmi-Pullyu, called “Together”. It’s a strictly limited-edition CD (only 100 copies world-wide), and will be followed by an even more limited edition cassette run to be released soon after in the States. 01|31|09 Recording the new album
All apologies for having neglected my blogging duties over the last month or two. I only have ten days left in New Zealand before I head over to the States. The US tour is shaping up nicely – though, admittedly, I have been a bit slow to book in the final 5-6 dates (I’m aiming for a total of roughly 20 shows). My main focus, aside from some wonderful developments in my personal life, has been to finish the recording of the new album. Although I won’t get it all done in time, I’m still incredibly pleased with the progress we’ve made over the last two months. Pretty much all of the instrumental parts to the twelve songs are now tracked, and what is left to do now is record vocals, mix the album, and get it mastered in the States. Even lyric writing, which traditionally takes me the longest, has been going far better than I had anticipated, with the majority of lyrics being near completion. (Read the rest of this story…)

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for coming out to see our last two Christchurch shows! Both, Evan and I, had a wonderful time performing our new set for all of you. So, as a way of saying thank you, I thought it might be nice to share a live recording of a new song with you, called Elektra. The version available for download here was recorded live to two-track on Thursday at our Dux De Lux show. Hope you enjoy it! :)

10|01|08 The Next Four Months
“The truth of the matter is that my current life-style is unsustainable. It’s unhealthy, full of distractions, and unwholesome. My flat has been a shambles for almost a year now. It is cluttered. It is dark. It is cold. It is damp. And I literally feel like I have been slowly wasting away in it. I need to get out of there. Fast.” As many of you already know, I am moving back to the States in January. The main reason for that being that I miss the mid-west, I miss my friends, I miss being around my mother, and I’m really excited to tour The Enright House throughout the US and, later in the year, Europe, as well. Going back oversees after living in New Zealand for almost five years will be good for my soul, I think. As much as I love certain aspects of New Zealand, I love the wider world even more, and to have spent a good half of my twenties in a small and remote country, too far away from my friends and family, has been a significant contributor to my ongoing struggles with depression.
